Emblematic Symbolism

NKAH founding mothers pioneered NKAH “The Light of Maturity of Mankon” (an English translation of the organization’s name) along with its emblem; a woman adorn in the very recognizable Mankon ethnic regalia holding a glowing light (a bundle of bamboo glowing flame held high) in one hand and a pen and book in the other.

NKAH Woman in Mankon Regalia: symbolizes the beauty, strength, and culture of the Mankon woman. She wears an elegantly red and yellow hand embroidered “wrapper” and “bouba”, also proudly worn by several tribes and adopted as the official traditional garment of the peoples of The Republic of Cameroon.

A Glowing Bamboo Light: symbolizes NKAH woman as the light and urges all to be the light of Mankon to all she encounters

An Open Book and Pen: Without knowledge a people perish is perhaps the strongest symbols of the NKAH emblem, and also a guiding biblical principle to adhere to. The NKAH woman believes through knowledge comes empowerment; the capacity and freedom to become successful and productive and to bring same to all throughout Mankon and beyond

These meaning creating symbols culminate and add to NKAH’s motto: Unity, Love, Self-Reliance and Development
